Our Philosophy
We help children engage their bodies and minds through fun and educational activities.
Nature and Respect
- We respect our Pōhutukawa tree and the natural environment, viewing the environment as a third teacher.
- Nature-inspired experiences are interwoven into our curriculum, supported by our generously sized natural play area which offers endless opportunities for exploration, physical development, and curiosity.
- We hold a deep respect for Papatūānuku (Mother Earth), all living things, and our unique natural environment.
- Nature is our teacher, reflected in our commitment to sustainability, kaitiakitanga (guardianship), all-weather outdoor play, and the use of natural resources.
Child-Led Curriculum
- Our curriculum is driven by the interests of the children and is equitable for all.
- We believe in learning through play, allowing children to make their own choices and guiding their learning experiences.
Relationships
- We embrace strong reciprocal relationships between ākonga (learners), whānau (families), and kaiako (teachers), which help to guide ākonga in their learning and development.
- Our curriculum fosters taha hinengaro, allowing ākonga to freely express their thoughts and feelings, nurturing a love for learning and creating lifelong, independent learners.
- We value and respect our relationships with whānau, emphasizing positive and meaningful connections.
Baby Room
- Inspired by RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers), we provide an unhurried environment with uninterrupted play.
An Unhurried Environment and Uninterrupted Play
- A safe place of belonging and peacefulness.
- Deep respect and acknowledgement of what children bring with them (who they are) – their unique identities, cultures, values, beliefs and rituals.
- Children have the freedom to be adventurous – exploring, discovering and learning whilst doing so in an inclusive environment with responsive and respectful kaiako.
